CCA started after several years of prayer and counsel from other pastors.  Our desire is to allow the Lord to change our lives by His Spirit and His Word, transforming us more into the image of Jesus Christ, that we would live to His glory and praise and be used of Him to greatly impact the Alton area with the gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ.

Currently we meet at a home. This was the common place of meeting in the early Church (Acts 2:46; 5:42; Col 4:15; Phm 2). We meet for around 1-1/2 – 2 hours, not having a set format. We worship with the singing of rich hymns and modern Christian songs with strong scriptural and theological content, that speaks of the great truths found in the Word of God.

People are encouraged to share some truth from the Bible that they have gleaned recently. We find this is helpful to the rest of the body to hear what the Holy Spirit is revealing to others through their time in the Word of God.

We spend time praying for particular needs. As believers in Jesus Christ, we are encouraged to come boldly before the throne of grace, and realize that we have bold and confident access to the Father through Jesus Christ.

The central focus of our time together is the preaching of the Word of God. Tom preaches in an expositional manner, allowing the Bible in its context to speak to us. The messages are full with scriptural references and explanation of the truth and doctrinal content found in the text. The messages are Christ-centered, because Jesus Christ is the glorious theme of scripture. The Word of God is applied to our lives, calling us to deny self and live lives of holiness and godliness, living in a manner worthy of the God who calls us into His kingdom and glory.  It is God’s Word that will change our lives as the Holy Spirit takes the mighty “sword of the Spirit” to do His work of convicting, regenerating, saving, sanctifying, and glorifying.
