Mission & Purpose

Mission

We are commanded and commissioned by the Lord Jesus Christ to take the gospel into all of the world (Matthew 28:18-20).  The Apostle Paul said that we are in debt to all men to reach them with the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 1:14). 

Therefore our “mission” is nothing new, but the joyous response to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ to go with the message of salvation to the lost of our world.  In doing so we will trust in the work of the Holy Spirit to draw sinners to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ and help them to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, to a mature man, living lives bearing fruit to the glory and praise of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. 

Christ Church will be a place for the equipping and sending of saints to minister to others.  We will teach the whole counsel of God to the body so that they may be strong in the Word of God and well-trained to serve their Lord where He sends them.  

Purpose

The Church of Jesus Christ is to exist for His glory (Eph. 3:20,21).  Therefore Christ Church of Alton desires to preach, pray, worship, serve and evangelize so as to point to and exalt the Lord Jesus Christ.  We desire to continually rely on the leading and power of the Holy Spirit, the grace of God, and the finished work of Jesus Christ as our means whereby we love the Lord our God, love others, and seek to grow His kingdom through the ministry of the Word to the saved and lost
